Yuri Yefanov is an artist and filmmaker who explores radical fantasies through speculative world-building and gaming engine simulations. His work focuses on the relationship between culture and nature, and post-anthropocentric imageries. Through the lens of global polycrisis, he explores political ecology. The basis of his work is the creation of counter-scenarios that oppose current dystopian socio-political tendencies. Using a game engine to generate digital simulations of various decentralised societies, he creates virtual domains where utopian visions of humanity's distant future are cultivated. His projects have been exhibited at numerous venues, including the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Geneva Centre for Contemporary Art, PinchukArtCentre and others.
